Description

Researchers from the University of Sheffield and Imperial College have discovered and old, evolved star interloping through a youn star-forming region (centre right). Astronomers previously thought that evolved stars cannot encounter young stars ad their planetary systems. The research has shown that enrichment from these retired stars could be a more viable way of heating the early Earth. Illustration created for a press release by the University of Sheffield.
